BULB PROPAGATION

Fieldgate Twinscaling

(Fieldgate Snowdrops)

(Based in Warwickshire, England)

Fieldgate Twinscaling offers to propagate customers' bulbs by twinscaling, or by 'chipping'. This has the advantage over growing from seed that the progeny are true to name. Bulbs processed can be increased x10 to x40, depending on size, and the new bulbs can reach flowering size after only three years.

The service offered is limited to propagation of the rarer varieties in small quantities for amateurs, we do not have capacity to process commercial quantities.

Suitable Genera

The process was originally developed for narcissus, but works well with galanthus, nerine, fritillaria and, although not yet proved, probably other Amaryllidaceae. Corms, tubers and rhizomes, crocus, cyclamen, etc. generally cannot be propagated by this method.

Price £20 sterling, €30 or US$30 per bulb plus postage and packing.
